I am so tired of seeing letters regarding the choice to wear masks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
Safety is the number one priority of local governments, health units and even the health and safety act. Safety should be number one priority of all persons who spend time around others.
This disease has been shown to be spread through droplets when speaking, coughing, sneezing even breathing. The only protection is to socially distance and wear a mask when you are around other people. We have had 2,000 dead in Ontario from the virus.
I have worked as a nurse for 50 years and I have never seen a disease spread so fast and take so many lives around the world. Masks should be worn over the nose, mouth and chin in all public places, when in an enclosed crowded space and whenever you cannot socially distance.
Those against masks say we should stand up for our rights and freedoms. Well, I also have a right and that is to be safe around others.
